Carmarthenshire Family Information Service

This service was originally set up in 2003 as one of the 22 Children’s Information Service’s across Wales, to provide information, advice and guidance on childcare to parents and prospective parents in their County. In 2008 the service was renamed nationally as the Family Information Service or FIS. New duties have been given to local authorities across Wales by the Welsh Assembly Government to broaden the range of information and support they provide.
The Carmarthenshire Family Information Service provides bilingual, impartial advice and guidance on a wide range of childcare and family support related issues.
We offer information on:
- Childcare Availability & Facilities:
- Welsh medium and bilingual childcare provision.
- Facilities in childcare settings suitable for children with disabilities and special educational needs
- Information on all registered childcare and unregistered childcare where possible.
- Child Development & Behaviour
- Education & Family Learning Services
- Parenting programmes, post natal and antenatal services
- Details of courses and funding, and further and higher education opportunities
- Library services,
- Family learning opportunities
- Financial & Legal Services:
- Advice for parents on how to meet childcare cost e.g. through tax credits, support schemes etc.
