Holiday Availability: Open throughout the Year Opening Times: 9am – 8pm (Depending upon Service) Age Range: 0 – 11yrs (11yrs+ please contact Youth Service) What is a Children’s Centre?
The Children’s Centre offers a range of activities to improve outcomes for children and their families. They can offer Early Years Education, Play Opportunities and Training Programmes for Adults, Junior Youth Clubs and activities that involve both Children and Parents together. They can offer services in the evening and during school holidays. They are unique to each Community and Develop in partnership alongside services already available in order to provide a network of services to children and families. Where is it? Carmarthenshire’s first Children’s Centre is situated in Llwynhendy (Just opposite the dentist) and is open to members of the community within Llanelli, with some services being specific to children living within Llwynhendy. What services do you offer? The programme changes to meet the needs of the community, therefore it is recommended that you contact the centre for an up to date time-table of activities. An example of activities is:- Just for Children Kidz Club (Open all Year) Open Access Play for Children aged 7-11yrs every Tuesday and Thursday 6pm till 7.30pm Out in the Open (Specific Days at Holiday Times only) During the school Holidays we take play ‘out in the open’ to local community fields for children aged 7 – 11yrs (less than 2hrs) Play Club (Specific Days at Holiday Times only) Play Club for Children aged 4 – 6yrs during school holidays (less than 2hrs) Early Years Group (Open 42 weeks of the year) Flying Start Childcare Sessions through the medium of Welsh or English (Bi-lingual) for children aged 2-3yrs. Five sessions per week are available free of charge to children who live within designated areas. After School Club Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 3pm till 5.30pm. This service is managed by CYCA and a small charge is made for the service. + CYCA operates Holiday Play Scheme’s within Llanelli during most holidays. Just for Adults Programmes to support and develop skills in parenting or those to use in the workplace. These are provided to meet need:-
+ A Majority of groups are supported by Genesis who provide a crèche for the children. For You and Your Child Activities to do together:- Language and Play - (School term only) Come along and join in the Fun! Creative activities, songs and rhymes, every Wednesday 1pm till 2.30pm Breastfeeding Support Group – Every Monday from 10.30am till 12.30pm. Baby can play whilst you receive support from the Health Visitor or the other mum’s! Baby Clinic – Every Friday Morning Fun Days – Family Fun Days are held throughout the year. Latest News Children’s Centres are being planned in Felinfoel and Morfa as part of the New School’s Development programme. Although not planned to open until 2009/2010.
